Raise a glass to the artists,
And artisans, all,
Who have heeded their own inner call.

Raise a glass to the painters,
The poets, et al,
Who’ve championed liberty, for all.

Raise a glass to the dancers,
And musicians through time,
Who’ve moved with their own inner rhyme.

Raise a glass to the writers,
Who’s words, with stretched wings,
Have stopped to question, the conscience of kings.

Raise a glass to creatives,
Who go within, every hour,
And know ‘tis they, who have the real power.

Roger Allen Baut, B.A. Social Studies (Psychology & History major, Political Science minor) & Secondary Education, graduated Cum Laude with departmental honors 1989. M.S. Counseling 1993.

 Roger has a broad range of interests and employment experiences ranging from philosophy, metaphysics and spirituality to alternative health and well-being, as well as working with at-risk youth and families in a county program, and in education.

 He has also served in the United States Naval Reserve as a petty officer and received an Honorable Discharge in 1989.

 His artistic interests and endeavors include india ink and dry brush, chalk and charcoal drawings, as well as oil paintings with accompanying poems that he created to supplement his income while in the military.

 As a long-time photographer Roger recently began to develop his photographic work into a collection of what he terms “contemplative photographic art.” He defines "contemplative photographic art" or "contemplative photoart" as, "certain photographs which may lead the viewer into a calm, thoughtful, peaceful, and/or lightly meditative state. In this contemplative state an individual may connect, gain access to, or come into resonance with his or her own inner being, and from this connection, perhaps gain insights that will assist that person on their journey of life on planet earth."

 Always making use of his creativity, Roger began developing what he terms “triplets” last year, which consist of a photograph, poem and video to give added ‘depth’ and dimension to his poetry. Each part of a 'triplet' is designed to complement the other.

 One of his main beliefs is, that, “…if we do not begin working together for the mutual benefit of each other, all people, and the planet soon, humankind may well face a species collapse of epic proportions.” This is one of the main reasons for his working toward the development of a sustainable New World Creative Union.
