#WWUC @NWCreativeUnion ~A Longer View

Keeping with what seems to be a running theme for the month...I'm stealing the inspiration from "The Celestine Prophecy" by James Redfield.

A collection of Nine insights, today's prompt comes from the second...A Longer View.  This insight challenges us to go beyond the common history...beyond the technological advances, beyond the trends and to the actual "thought evolution" of our history. If you could stretch your memory out over 1000 years...I think our milestones are much larger than putting a man on the moon...what made us even try? We are talking, within this physical realm, our almost "unseen" evolution.

Today, I'd like you to ponder our history. Spend some time with the quotes included. When did the shift start? Where can we expect to go from here? If you look back over the past 1000 years...where does it take you when you look towards the NEXT 1000.

all images from google

1000 years back...1000 years forward....can you feel the weight of our evolution. Are we now prepared to learn from the lessons. Where do we go from here? Our planet is dying, our societies are struggling, the line between the have's and have-not's grows ever more defined. How did this happen...how do we change?

  • Post a response to your blog in the creative medium of your choosing. Draft 1000 year timeline in charcoal, capture a renaissance in water color, write your way through the dark ages...however you are prompted, feel free to express it.
  • Copy the exact address of your post. Paste to Mr. Linky, add your name and click that submit button.  Just that easy.
  • Be sure to visit others who are taking part. Explore their work. Share your thoughts. Start a conversation.
  • Share, tweet, tumble and pin. This is what we are all about. Sharing the good work of others in  an effort to Wake Folks Up! This is our world....let's redefine our era and make this shift happen!
  • You have until Sunday morning to respond. No rush...no pressure...just some time to let your creativity flow.

Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.

@NWCreativeUnion #WWUC 16.10.12 Elemental Magic

~Elemental Magic~

It's that time of the week again, good people...when Monday feels like an eternity ago and Friday is but a dream...but we're here to wake you up and get those creative juices flowing.

Before we proceed to the prompt however, we'd like you to know that we will be issuing our Creativity Designate badge on a monthly basis now, rather than the weekly award we were giving. No worries...we'll be tracking those +1's and at the end of the month, we'll officially announce the taker of the fabulous purple pheonix! All the more reason for you to join us every week! With so many new projects and announcements, it's an exciting time indeed!

Okay...this prattle from me will only urge you closer to sleep...so on to the prompt...

For ages, mystics and clerics the world over have spoken to the magic of the elements. Each carries various meanings in relation to spirituality, magick, wisdom.  Today, I'm asking you to be the mystic.

Will your elemental magick be used for POWER. Are you able to move mountains?

Will you use your newfound power to wipe evil from the planet, to cleanse and purify?

Will you sing a song of peace, whispered on the winds of change?

Or maybe...at the end of the day, the issues and problems created by those who walked before will require a complete tearing down. Will you set the world on fire, using your power to let her rise again?

It's the season of the witch and the ghouls are ready to take over. It's up to you to bust out the crayons, break open those pastels, and refill that inkwell. What do these elements mean to you? Ponder their power, their connection to all. It is these very things that make up our world and allow us to be here. What do they mean to you? Shhh...don't tell me...blog it, post it to the Mr.Linky below...and share it with us all! Have some fun...we're looking forward to what you're going to pull out of your  hat on this one!

Our rules are simple:
  • Post your work, be it writing, poetry, fiction, prose, painting, sculpture, anything at all, to your blog.
  • Copy the address of the specific post and give Mr. Linky a click.
  • You'll be asked for your link and your name. Once entered, click submit...and your in!
  • Visit others who are sharing their work. Let them know you appreciate their efforts, just as you hope they appreciate yours. It's just good manners to repay kindness. Share and tweet to your hearts content. We're all about getting your good works to the masses!
  • Encourage readers to click that +1 button...and let them know your Waking Up with the New World Creative Union.
  • Above all else...let your creativity run wild! Have fun...and we'll see you in the ether!

Wednesday Wake Up Call @NWCreativeUnion 03.10.12

Welcome to this weeks Wednesday Wake Up Call...a chance to go beyond your chosen medium, to explore the world of creation and your place in it.  Art, in all its forms, has always fascinated me. From a young age, I dreamed of performing. Just me and Dad and his old acoustic guitar, busting out Kenny Roger's "The Gambler" for any who had ears to listen. But it wasn't just the music...it was what it did to me. To this day, if I'm blessed with an empty house for a couple of hours, you can normally find me, dancing by myself.

So today, with the videos and quotes that follows, I'm hoping you'll find a rhythm to dance yourself through the midweek blues. From ballet to hip hop, there's no denying the right song, the right performance, can ignite your spirit, open your heart, heal your wounds and if we're REALLY lucky, you'll find your inner creative inspired to share here with us.

The rules are simple!
  • Spend some time with the prompts. Feel the music, the movement.
  • Post a response to your blog. Any medium of your choosing. If you can blog it...you can post it.
  • Copy the post address of your response and click the Mr. Linky button found below the video. Here you will be asked to include your link and your name. Click submit...and your in.
  • Return to Mr. Linky to see what's been prompted from the other creators who have joined in. Comment and share to your hearts content. We are committed to a community based on sharing and caring, and the support of others' work is paramount in our endeavours
  • As always, the entry to receive the most Google +1's will be awarded our Purple Pheonix to display and share on their own site.
There is it folks...now...let's dance!

There is a bit of insanity in dancing that does everybody a great deal of good ~ Edwin Denby

I would believe only in a God that knows how to dance ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

Wednesday Wake-Up @NWCreativeUnion

After what seems to have been a pretty rough week for everyone out there in the real world, I thought this week we should have a little fun...Remember when we had dreams we really thought we could achieve...let's go back to that feeling...when we KNEW beyond the shadow of a doubt we could make the world a better place, and magic existed all around. When our hearts trusted, and our minds were open...to change, to adventure.  We lose so much of "us" in our day to day survival, so we asking you to...bring YOU! Let's talk about your dreams, your hopes, your wishes for yourself and the world...and let's get our hearts back to that happy place...

"These Dreams"

Here's how we play. Enjoy some time with the prompts above. Read the quote, take in the picture, hum along with the song, and see how your inner-creator is prompted.  Then...

  • Click our Mr. Linky button. Enter your name, and paste the proper address of your response where indicated. Click submit...and you're in!
  • Revist Mr. Link to see who else is hooking up with us this week.  We run through till Sunday morning, when the prompt closes at 8am EST
  • We are a community hoping to foster a relationship of caring and sharing with other creators.  We KNOW it's not all about us, but about everybody, and we want to see the amazing talent who has graced our pages being shared with the world. So share away...and above all else...Dare to Dream!

Wednesday Wake-Up Features @GothicGlass

Today, I'd love to share with you a wonderful Nova Scotia artist I discovered on twitter.  Angie Chase began her Gothic Glass creations while residing on Canada's West Coast.  Here, she began building a following through the online ether that would follow her back home.  While many may think that Gothic Glass refers to subculture, the term is actually used in reference to that particular period in stained glass architectural history. It speaks of the pointed arches, the ribbed vaults and flying buttresses, but perhaps, most notably, the rose window.

I have purchased Angie's works, and was delighted by the quality, not to mention the affordability of her pieces.  Today, I'm going to share some of my favorite pieces with you, (with Angie's permission, of course) and would love to see how this amazing art form get's your own creative juices flowing.  You'll also find links to her work included for sharing with your response.  Let's spread the good news of this wonderful artisan!

This is how we play...

  • Spend some time with Angie's wonderful pieces. Feel free to visit her pages and pick your favorites. Share the piece with appropriate links on your blog.
  • Let your creative take over. Are you compelled to pick up a pen? Grab a paint brush? Bang your drum? No matter how you choose to respond, if you can post it to your blog, you can share it with NWCU
  • Once your post is complete, visit our Mr.Linky button below.  Here you will be asked to submit your name, as well as the address of the post you're sharing. Once you do this, you're in!
  • Our purpose is to spread the good work of artists and creatives the world over. Visit those who have decided to play along, comment, tweet, and share their responses with your peers.  Let's help each other build our fan bases, grow our following, and share our work.  You never know where the next great connection will be found!
  • You have till Sunday morning, 8amEST to post your response. Throughout the prompt, we will be tallying the +1's on the post. The longer you have to share, the better chance you have of taking home our Creative Designate badge!
And perhaps most of all, a huge thank you has to go out to Angie for letting me share her wonderful work with you! Please don't forget to swing by and show your gratitude....

Wednesday Wake Up ~ 27.06.12

Show Us Your Butterflies!
Last week when I put the call out for ideas for this weeks Wake Up...the voice of a constant supporter came through loud and clear. Steve Piper (thumbs up big time!) brought forth how often we as writers and creators look to certain items for constant inspiration.  An example he used that I LOVED was the moon.  Right now, if I asked you to run and grab a piece of your work inspired by the moon, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have to wait too long.

The same can be said for butterflies...look at Susie Clevenger  our own Butterfly Poet...these light-filled, flying canvasses have been inspiration for so many, and this week...we'd like to see how they've inspire you!

There are some images below to help prompt your pen...but the sky's the limit and we're granting you butterfly wings.

Enjoy this beautiful slideshow compiled by our own Roger Allen Baut over at Zenfolio where he incorporates not only butterflies...but a real sense of nature and what these beauties represent. Amongst the Leaves

Wednesday Wake Up with @NWCreativeUnion

It's that time of the week when days seem to last forever...and it's time for us all to wake up.  This week I am sharing with you, a very disturbing movie trailer from the film Zeitgeist.  This movie woke me up in 2007 when watching a full movie on YouTube seemed complete ridiculousness. I watched this one, held riveted to the tiny screen on my tiny laptop.  If you are weak stomached, you may want to skip this one.  I'm not asking you to change your beliefs, I'm not even asking you to watch the film, but I am asking you to share your thoughts on this just over four minute clip.  Imagine it being placed in a time capsule and stumbling upon it 100 years from now?  For me...it is one of the most realistic impressions of the world we're living in, and I am scared to death.

Tell me its not time to wake up...to try to change this...there has to be a way...one world...one love.
Here's how to play along:

  • Post your response to the above clip to your blog. Write a poem, paint a picture, share an opinion.
  • Copy the link address for that particular post and click on the Mr. Linky button
  • Paste your post address, enter you name and click submit...you're in!
  • Visit others who have shared their thoughts with us. Share them with your followers, engage in conversation. Show them the love and respect that we need on a GLOBAL level.  Let's lead by example.
  • You have till Sunday at 8am EST to post your response.  The post that receives the most +1's will be crowned with a lovely badge to show off to the world!
  • That's all there is to it! Let's wake up, shall we :)

Wednesday Wake-Up Call

Wednesday Wake-Up Call 23.05.12

For What It's Worth: Change

Today, more than ever, humankind stands at a crossroads. A crossroads of moving into the future as an advancing and healthy species, or one that will follow along the path of it's predecessors, which is into eventual oblivion.

There are many movements that are attempting to address the various problems of our people and planet these days. So, today's Wednesday Wake-Up Call, gives you the opportunity in being creative, and in depicting how positive 'change' may be accomplished for ourselves, others, and the planet. This is an opportunity for YOU to share your perspective on how we can make a difference to others.

So, grab your pens, pastels, paints, video camera, crayons, et cetera, or sing a song, share a painting, an essay, or simply an opinion, and join with us as we journey into For What it's Worth: Change.

To get you started, here are two interesting videos to stimulate your thought and creativity on this week's subject! For What It's Worth and Why I protest, Occupy Atlanta.

"What a field day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everbody look what's going down..."
lyrics, Buffalo Springfield

"If we do not begin to work together for the mutual benefit of all people and the
planet, then we as a species will follow the path of our predecessors, into oblivion." Baut

Wednesday Wake~Up Call 16.05.12

~Oceans of Creativity~

Wouldn't it be fantastic if we were all waking up to the sound of waves crashing against the shore, and the glare of the morning sun sparkling on the water.  I've yet to meet a person that is NOT inspired by a moment at the beach, a picnic on a bluff overlooking the ocean, or a day spent sailing.  Today, let's pretend we are waking to the sound of waves.  Let's find that moment that makes us realize while we are physically minute in the grand scheme of things, our spirits are able to surf the crest of those waves to the heart of inspiration.

Today, I want to go all multi-media.  Listen to the sound of the waves, contemplate the photo's, or simply ponder what our oceans mean to you.  Coming from a province that is exploring off-shore drilling in a partnership with Shell...I truly am concerned for the well being of my home, lovingly referred to as Canada's Ocean Playground.
