Social Sprite’s Social Media Tip of the
Week
Join me weekly, right here on the New World
Creative Union blog, for a quick social media tip. I’ll focus both on
technology know how as well as marketing uses. And if you have any questions
please leave them in the comment section and I’ll be sure to answer.
The Facebook Timeline cover photo is
probably the most important aspect of personal branding on Facebook. Remember,
people make decisions about you in the first few seconds. Showcasing your
beautiful artwork or book covers in the cover photo gives you the best shot at
those few seconds so doing it right is imperative.
I also recommend changing your personal
profile over to the Timeline if you haven’t already. It’s important to take
advantage of the tools available to get your work out there.
Below are some things to consider when
choosing and making your cover photo. The cover is not like the old landing
pages so pay close attention to Facebook’s terms of use section below. If you
already have a cover photo, but notice it is stretched that’s because it needs
to be sized properly. Size information is also provided via Facebook.
Share with us all your amazing cover photos
by linking to your Facebook page below! This way we can learn from one another
and get to know each other better.
If you just can’t figure out how to make a
photo conform to the recommended size contact me at jelliott@socialspritemediaservices.com
and I’ll let you know what I can do.
Cover
All covers are public. This means that
anyone who visits your Page will be able to see your cover. Covers can't be
deceptive, misleading, or infringe on anyone else's copyright. You may not
encourage people to upload your cover to their personal timelines.
Covers
may not include:
i.
price or purchase information, such as "40% off" or
"Download it on socialmusic.com";
ii.
contact information such as a website address, email, mailing address,
or information that should go in your Page's "About" section;
iii.
references to Facebook features or actions, such as "Like" or
"Share" or an arrow pointing from the cover photo to any of these
features; or
iv. calls
to action, such as "Get it now" or "Tell your friends."
What
are the dimensions for my Page's cover photo?
Cover photos are 851 pixels wide and 315
pixels tall. If you upload an image that's smaller than these dimensions, it
will get stretched to this larger size. The image you upload must be at least
399 pixels wide.
To get the best quality image and fastest
load times for your Page, upload an sRGB JPG file that's 851 pixels wide, 315
pixels tall and less than 100 kilobytes.
