Wednesday Wake Up ~ 27.06.12

Show Us Your Butterflies!
Last week when I put the call out for ideas for this weeks Wake Up...the voice of a constant supporter came through loud and clear. Steve Piper (thumbs up big time!) brought forth how often we as writers and creators look to certain items for constant inspiration.  An example he used that I LOVED was the moon.  Right now, if I asked you to run and grab a piece of your work inspired by the moon, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have to wait too long.

The same can be said for butterflies...look at Susie Clevenger  our own Butterfly Poet...these light-filled, flying canvasses have been inspiration for so many, and this week...we'd like to see how they've inspire you!

There are some images below to help prompt your pen...but the sky's the limit and we're granting you butterfly wings.

Enjoy this beautiful slideshow compiled by our own Roger Allen Baut over at Zenfolio where he incorporates not only butterflies...but a real sense of nature and what these beauties represent. Amongst the Leaves

Now here's how to show us your butterflies!

  • The New World Creative Union is here to represent artists of all mediums.  We ask you, the creator, to bring the medium of your choice (crayons, clay, words, paint, string, wax, glass, etc) to your blog and create a post based on the prompt above. Once completed, simply copy the address of the post and click the Mr. Linky Button below.
  • Here you will be asked to submit your name, your blog post address and click submit. Once you do, you're in!
  • We ask that you visit and support others who have found the time to link up and share their good work along with your own.
  • The prompt closes Sunday morning, 8am est.  At the time, the post who has received the most +1's will be awared our weekly designate of creativity and is free to display our awesome badge on their site.
Let's do this, shall we?

  4. Apologies for not checking in for a few weeks. Worked 2 full weeks covering vacations, and this week busy on vacation ourselves & heading to visit family in PA tomorrow, no internet access at their house. Four days computer free, yikes!! Saw the topic, and did have something about butterflies, albeit a bit "recycled" as it was posted before. The image was taken in my back yard, & the poem written for a previous prompt. Still, I thought it was worth sharing again. Have a good week, everyone. Will check back when I return Sunday night!!

  8. These simple, delicate, majestically free creatures have been employed in so much literature in so many effective modes. I remember being profoundly affected by a film I saw in high school, "Butterflies Are Free" and think I have held a special place for them in my writer's heart every since.

Butterflies are Free with Goldie Hawn, Edward Albert, and Eileen Heckart:

  9. Do you have any idea how hard it is to combine neocon political rhetoric and Butterflies?!?!

NO, even I would not do THAT.

    ;-)
