Night Calls #WWUC @NWCreativeUnion

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Dylan Thomas

  1. ah, natasha, great prompt. but you know me, fan of darkness and the villanelle lol but darkness plays so many rolls, romance to terror and everything in between. I look forward to this week's challenge :)

  3. Whew. Wrote this yesterday for you, and may be back to tweak it some more. A dark night of the soul is here now, not the lightheartedness of this poem, though I suppose I could pretend I had an intention of allegory. Where there is life, there must be hope! I love how you laid out this challenge, Natasha.

  4. Since Mister Linky was still open, I jumped in and posted a poem.

Very much enjoyed what others have written so far. This is a fine challange, Natasha, and interesting to note - though not surprising - that two others linked their nights/dreams to their writing in some way.

Appreciate this site and it's members' work. Well done. Here via Luke Prater.
