NWCU Sunday Snapshot 16.12.12

Welcome to our Sunday Snapshot! I'm Joanne Elliott and today I want to share the photography of my husband Charles Elliott. A few years ago he experimented with the contrast of some photos. He wanted to look at things in different ways. He came up with these evocative images. I can't wait to see what his work inspires!

So have a look and bring your own way of seeing/experiencing to the painting, sculpture, poem, short story, etc. that you create. And as always be sure to share it with us by clicking on Mr. Linky below and sharing a link to your creation.

Night Calls #WWUC @NWCreativeUnion

Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on that sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Dylan Thomas

Sunday Snap Shot - The Image in Focus 25.11.12

Welcome to New World Creative Order where one of our objectives is to inspire and encourage others in their creative meanderings. As we enter into the holiday season, we can’t help but reflect on our lives and the lives of others. Focus on the negative of a photograph for a moment –  it reminds me of the life left when a person is no longer living , the impression that remains. This week reflect on the images and the people in them and create a collage, a word picture, a memory of those who remain as lasting impressions in your life.

I am placing some inverted photographs (L. Moon copyright 2012) on the blog to stimulate your creativity.

Here are the rules:
  • Post your work, be it writing, poetry, fiction, prose, painting, sculpture, anything at all, to your blog.
  • Copy the address of the specific post and give Mr. Linky a click. You'll be asked for your link and your name. Once entered, click submit...and your in!
  • Visit others who are sharing their work. Let them know you appreciate their efforts, just as you hope they appreciate yours. It's just good manners to repay kindness.
  • Share and tweet to your heart's content. We're all about getting your good works to the masses! Encourage readers to click that +1 button...and let them know you are enjoying the New World Creative Union.
  •  Celebrate your creativity and memories

#WWUC @NWCreativeUnion ~A Longer View

Keeping with what seems to be a running theme for the month...I'm stealing the inspiration from "The Celestine Prophecy" by James Redfield.

A collection of Nine insights, today's prompt comes from the second...A Longer View.  This insight challenges us to go beyond the common history...beyond the technological advances, beyond the trends and to the actual "thought evolution" of our history. If you could stretch your memory out over 1000 years...I think our milestones are much larger than putting a man on the moon...what made us even try? We are talking, within this physical realm, our almost "unseen" evolution.

Today, I'd like you to ponder our history. Spend some time with the quotes included. When did the shift start? Where can we expect to go from here? If you look back over the past 1000 years...where does it take you when you look towards the NEXT 1000.

all images from google

1000 years back...1000 years forward....can you feel the weight of our evolution. Are we now prepared to learn from the lessons. Where do we go from here? Our planet is dying, our societies are struggling, the line between the have's and have-not's grows ever more defined. How did this happen...how do we change?

  • Post a response to your blog in the creative medium of your choosing. Draft 1000 year timeline in charcoal, capture a renaissance in water color, write your way through the dark ages...however you are prompted, feel free to express it.
  • Copy the exact address of your post. Paste to Mr. Linky, add your name and click that submit button.  Just that easy.
  • Be sure to visit others who are taking part. Explore their work. Share your thoughts. Start a conversation.
  • Share, tweet, tumble and pin. This is what we are all about. Sharing the good work of others in  an effort to Wake Folks Up! This is our world....let's redefine our era and make this shift happen!
  • You have until Sunday morning to respond. No rush...no pressure...just some time to let your creativity flow.

Someday, after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love, and then, for a second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.

Sunday Snap Shot - Converging Creativity 11.11.12

Welcome to New World Creative Union and Sunday Snap Shot.
We strive at NWCU to inspire creative thought that can be translated into multiple genres of art.
I met Michael Burgoyne on Twitter (@MB_IndiePoet8) and fell in love with his poetry. His work has inspired several of my shots and more poetry. Today I asked Michael to collaborate our creativity and see what emerges. He took a photograph of mine and wrote a poem from it. I took a poem of his and was inspired to shoot a picture. I believe all of us can be inspired by art or by words. Is there someone in your sphere whose work you admire?
Here's the challenge - develop your work off the art or words of another. That person could be a friend, a famous person, or someone you have seen around the blogsphere. Please be sure to attribute that person's work and join us as we strive toward a greater level of creativity!!!

I asked Michael what his creative process was.
"Simply, all I do is look at the images, have it spark some type of emotion or creative flow, and I run with it. I allow the image or the idea to consume me. Sometimes the words pour out of me while with others the creative process takes quite awhile."

Thanks Michael for letting your creativity to flow at The New World Creative Union.

The rules are as follows:

Welcome to the NWCU Sunday Snapshot #NWCU #ART #photography

Today is The New World Creative Union’s first Sunday Snapshot. We would like to welcome each of you especially our guest photographer Terence Jones.

I (Leslie Moon) met Terence several years ago on Flickr. I was entranced with his work; several of my archived poems have his black and white photographs as the prompts.

Look through the aperture with Terence and experience art...

What is your favorite subject to shoot?

“I usually want to capture something that is lost in every day’s speed. I just realized this extremely old iron rail in front of my window. It is probably eighty years old, has seen wars, births, deaths; it is a silent witness of what happened here.”

How does black and white impact your expression?
“Very much actually. Colors force the viewer to see the picture in a pre-defined way. In shooting black and white, I believe that  the perception is more genuine and not necessarily linked to former experience. It is more pure, more about the picture itself.”

What would you suggest to people just starting out?
“I believe in the Tradition of the Sun (Coelho). Go the extra mile, explore, get in touch and connect with what you are doing. You have to touch it yourself. Go out from the beginning and have fun.”
For those of you who are curious, Terence shoots with a Canon EOS 7D. His primary lens is the Canon 50mm. He is a shallow depth of field addict; usually shoots almost wide open at f/2.0.

I hope you like the collage that I put together so you can see the scope of Terence's work.

Thanks Terence for the inspiring pictures!!!

We are striving  to create a community of artists with the NWCU Sunday Snapshot. There is such a diverse talent out there. I enjoy each day of discovery.

Please feel free to link a favorite piece you have written, drawn, cooked. We always appreciate your sharing the work of others in the community.
.
Best to you in the coming week as you create ~ Moondustwriter

Wednesday Wake-Up Call 10.10.12 @NWCreativeUnion

Captive of this house

All of us at New World Creative Union  would like to welcome you to another Wednesday Wake Up Call. I (Moondustwriter) took a photo of this painting of a girl who looked like an apparition. I wondered if she belonged to the old house ( turned into a B & B) I was staying in. I could see a story in her eyes. She seems like a perfect inspiration for this time of year.
This picture may evoke poetry, a story, your own work of art, or a combination of your creativity. We look forward to seeing and reading what you have this week for WWUC.
Helpful Guidelines:
  • Post your response to the prompt on your blog.
  •  Copy the address for the specific post and click on the Mr. Linky Button below.
  •  Here you will be prompted to paste your link and enter your name.
  •  The prompt is live for a total of four days.
  •  Make sure you use your actual post address and not the general address of your blog. This way folks will be taken directly to your response
  •  That's it! Your name will appear hyper-linked on our Mr. Linky page along with our other entrants.
  •  Remember, our purpose is to ultimately share the good works of our group.
  •  Don't forget! Even if you do not participate please:
  •  Take a moment to Tweet, ReTweet, Comment, Share, and give Google +1s for those entries that you like!
  •  Visit those who have participated. Enjoy commenting and engaging with your fellow creatives.
We hope you enjoy the prompt, community and interacting.

John Anstie ~ @poetjanstie

John Anstie
Poet, Blogger, Photographer

John Anstie is a Poet, Blogger and Photographer having a treasure chest filled with a lifetime’s pictures; a developing interest in dramatised ‘moving’ pictures with a multi-media approach to creative art, including, of course, poetry. He also sings tenor in a mixed voice choir. He originally graduated with a Masters in Metallurgy and became a Chartered Engineer.
As a teenager in the sixties, there were small signs of creative intent: an unschooled love of the piano, followed by the ubiquitous guitar and his tendency to write the occasional song or poem. Played Rugby Union for over twenty years; an insane game that he claims kept him sane!
He spent thirty-five years in a creative desert, pursuing a career and raising a family. Working in Metallurgy for only ten years, he soon realised he was a reluctant metallurgist and so pursued a more commercial destiny. The ‘desert’ was not, however, without its benefits; a good wife and three healthy children were what sustained him then and, directly or indirectly, continue to provide one of the core inspirations for his writing now. It was, eventually, refreshed with rain in 2009 by the birth of his first grandchild, which moved him to write a poem. This opened a door and he hasn’t stopped writing since.
John’s writing is inspired by strong family, close community, and a desire to see an end to political injustice and extreme economic inequality; it is also concerned about the shallowness of life for large sections of an affluent generation and about a reluctance or inability for them to spare much meaningful thought for the human condition, in a world that is rapidly filling up with an increasingly stressed people and declining resources.
He has not yet published a collection… but watch this space!

Roger Allen Baut ~ @ChasingTao

Roger Allen Baut
Artist-Photographer-Poet
NWCU Coordinator

Roger Allen Baut, B.A. Social Studies (Psychology & History major, Political Science minor) & Secondary Education, graduated Cum Laude with departmental honors 1989. M.S. Counseling 1993.
Roger has a broad range of interests and employment experiences ranging from philosophy, metaphysics and spirituality to alternative health and well-being, as well as working with at-risk youth and families in a county program, and in education.
He has also served in the United States Naval Reserve as a petty officer and received an Honorable Discharge in 1989.
His artistic interests and endeavors include india ink and dry brush, chalk and charcoal drawings, as well as oil paintings with accompanying poems that he created to supplement his income while in the military.
As a long-time photographer Roger recently began to develop his photographic work into a collection of what he terms “contemplative photographic art.” He defines "contemplative photographic art" or "contemplative photoart" as, "certain photographs which may lead the viewer into a calm, thoughtful, peaceful, and/or lightly meditative state. In this contemplative state an individual may connect, gain access to, or come into resonance with his or her own inner being, and from this connection, perhaps gain insights that will assist that person on their journey of life on planet earth."
Always making use of his creativity, Roger began developing what he terms “triplets” last year, which consist of a photograph, poem and video to give added ‘depth’ and dimension to his poetry. Each part of a 'triplet' is designed to complement the other.
One of his main beliefs is, that, “…if we do not begin working together for the mutual benefit of each other, all people, and the planet soon, humankind may well face a species collapse of epic proportions.” This is one of the main reasons for his working toward the development of a sustainable New World Creative Union.

It's the Launch of The New World Creative Union

We were born creators. We were born as equals. We are here together to share, to encourage, to support and to grow.  The world is desperate for a new voice, a new song, a new awakening. We believe, that together, we can bring that change about.  Welcome to the New World Creative Union.

Our mission is simple. We intend to build a community dedicated to the support of artists of all mediums. One where work can be shared in an open and nonjudgmental environment, where we can gather to share our faces and places with the world.
